The defence and security conference, BATTLEFIELD ReDEFINED 2024, started today and is taking place in Nicosia. It will end on Friday, December 13.
The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, welcomed the conferenceGreetings at the start of the conference were also addressed by Stavros Stavrou, President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCC); Dr. Tasos Kounoudis, President of the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Companies (KSEEK); and Paraskevi Polydorou, Director of C.D. Multimedia Services.
At the end of his speech, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, was taken on a tour of the conference area where he spoke with the executives of the domestic and foreign defence industry companies participating in the conference and had the opportunity to learn about the weapons systems and capabilities there.
President Christodoulidis, in the private discussions he had with the representatives of the defence industry companies, expressed his admiration for the progress of the sector in Cyprus and expressed the will of the government to further strengthen the defence industry.
Topics that this year’s conference will focus on include, among others, the rise of the Cyprus Defence Industry, the use of dual-use technologies in the modern battlefield, the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) in modern conflicts, and the impact of climate change on defence issues, while operational conclusions from recent conflicts will be discussed. Also, in the conference area, there is a demonstration of weapon systems from domestic and foreign companies.
