Bailey bridge | The military bridge restores traffic in Arachthos

The Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) announced that on Friday, February 4, 2022, the BAILEY-type military metal bridge with three openings and a total length of 50m was installed on the river Arachthos, so as to restore traffic in Mikri Gotista – Anatoli Ioanninon street of the Municipality of Metsovo. The bridge installation was carried out by the Studies and Construction Unit of HNDGS in collaboration with the Region of Epirus (click here).

The details of the bridge payload are the following:

  • Maximum permissible weight: 32 tons
  • Maximum weight per axle: 8 tons
  • Minimum permissible distance between vehicles: 25 m
  • Maximum speed of 40 km / h

As of today, the bridge is open for passenger vehicles and from Monday, February 7, 2022, it will also be accessible to heavy vehicles.
