Five years after imposing restrictions on arms exports to Turkey, Norway has decided to accept Ankara’s arms applications.
Sweden will send its 17th aid package to Ukraine with further military support worth $443 million, Defence Minister Pal Jonsson announced yesterday.
The new package will include ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles that Sweden has already donated, as well as purchases that would facilitate the transfer of Gripen fighter jets in the future, although such a transfer has not yet been decided.
Sweden wants to have the ability to donate Gripen in Ukraine, possibly at a later stage, Jonson said during a press conference.
Jonson said that the support package includes additional warships, missiles, and camouflage equipment, as well as funding to support defence procurement for Ukraine.
The measures were decided in close cooperation with Kyiv.
Currently, there are no plans to transfer JAS Gripens to Ukraine, as this would disrupt the import of F-16s, the government said in a statement.
