Elbit Systems of America (Elbit America) has been awarded via an international tender a five-year $500 million IDIQ contract to supply Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggles (SBNVG) to the US Marine Corps (USMC).
THEON SENSORS, the exclusive sub-manufacturer of Elbit America, is to supply its US partner with the night vision binoculars NYX in the form of a Semi Knock Down Kit. The final assembly, production, and distribution of the product will be carried out at Elbit America’s facilities in Roanoke, Virginia, USA.
In addition, THEON SENSORS will provide night vision spare parts, and logistics support, and will carry out system repairs throughout the collaboration, according to a relevant announcement.
Designed with technology suitable for focusing at close distances and with built-in infrared (IR) illumination, the night vision binoculars NYX offer tactical advantage in low- or near-zero-light combat scenarios, providing enhanced operational performance and situational awareness.
The contract is awarded by the US Department of Defence. Under the contract, a total of $126.8 million will be reserved for the first delivery order.
THEON SENSORS has been working with Elbit America (former Harris Night Vision) since 2018, when the NYX Night Vision Binoculars were offered as a Semi Knock Down Kit to be assembled by Elbit America and delivered to the Department of Defence and the US Marine Corps under the trade name “F5032”.
Subsequently, due to the high quality of the night vision binoculars, Elbit America, with THEON SENSORS as sub-manufacturer, was awarded a five-year $249 million IDIQ program from the US Marine Corps in 2019 for the SBNVG I program, and the system has been coded with the designation AN/PVS-31D.
