On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the “Joint Action Plan of Greece – Cyprus – Jordan” for 2024 was signed in Amman, Jordan. The plan was signed by the Director of the International Relations Directorate of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), Brigadier Vasilios Tsamis, the Head of the International Cooperation Department/DPO of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Brigadier Muhammad Bader Al-Meqdadi, and the Director of the 4th Branch of the Cypriot National Guard General Staff, Colonel Alcibiades Alcibiades.

The Joint Action Plan (JAP) 2024 is part of the wider planning of the HNDGS regarding the international cooperation of the Hellenic Armed Forces. Further, it is within the framework of actions agreed upon during the talks between the Chief of the HNDGS, Konstantinos Floros, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, during his official visit to Jordan and his attendance at the 13th Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX-22) on October 31 and November 1, 2022.

The Action Plan is a continuation of the JAP 2023 that was held within the framework of the Tripartite Military Dialogue of Greece – Cyprus – Jordan, and includes, among others:

  • Staff meetings and talks on matters of mutual interest, with special emphasis on the field of Military Intelligence.
  • Cooperation in operational activities in firefighting as well as Search-Rescue and casualty evacuation procedures.
  • Carrying out joint training with the use of simulators at the Battle Tank Simulator Center in Alexandroupolis.
  • Staff meetings for the preparation and signing of the JAP 2025.

With the signing of the JAP 2024, the already close military cooperation among the Hellenic Armed Forces of the three countries is further deepened in the context of their defence coordination, and the joint effort to face common challenges is strengthened in order to promote peace, security, and stability in the wider Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
