A report to the UN Secretary General will be drawn up by Maria Angela Holguin Queillar in the near future, as she announced shortly…
On July 12, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus and head of UNFICYP, Colin Stewart, who is about to leave the island on Monday, is expected to brief the United Nations Security Council on the Cyprus Issue and the UNFICYP.
According to CNA, during his presence at the United Nations headquarters, Mr. Stewart will meet with the Secretary General of the international organization, Antonio Guterres, either on July 10 or 11.
He will also have bilateral meetings with the permanent delegations of member-states of the United Nations Security Council, either on July 10 or 11, that is, before the briefing of the Security Council.
This time, however, there will be no meeting of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General with the representatives of troop-contributing countries to UNFICYP, since no resolution will be issued to renew the mandate of the force, which now takes place every year.
This afternoon, Mr. Stewart will have a meeting with the US Ambassador to Cyprus, Julie Fisher, and he will also meet with the British High Commissioner to the island, Irfan Siddiq, who will also be briefed on the said matters, in view of his travel to New York.
It is noted that the United Kingdom will preside over the UN Security Council in July.
