The imposition of American CAATSA sanctions (Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act) against Turkey will not affect the current export licenses, which are valid and have not been completed yet. Responding to a question from APE-MPE and MEGA TV station, a State Department spokesman clarified that no new contracts will be signed or the current contracts with the Turkish Defence Industry will be renewed.
“Now, the current, valid and incomplete export licenses are not affected by this action (CAATSA sanctions). No new export licenses or other authorizations will be issued with the Turkish Defence Industry as a contracting party. This includes amendments to agreements that have already been approved and permits following agreements that have already been approved,” said a State Department spokesman.
