“NIRIIS 2020” | Impressive pictures from the joint training with NATO naval forces – Photos & VIDEO

From Tuesday November, 17 to Thursday November 19, 2020 the exercise “NIRIIS 2020” took place in the sea area south of Crete with the participation of the Hellenic Navy, the Hellenic Air Force and the NATO Standing Naval Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2). The exercise took place in accordance with the instructions of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

In particular, two frigates, two fast attacking vessels, a submarine of the Hellenic Navy participated in the exercise, along with four F-16 aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force. On the part of SNMG2, two Frigates and an Oil Tanker took part in the exercise.

The purpose of the exercise, which was organised by the General Staff and was carried out by the Fleet Headquarters, was the training and education of the participants in technical and tactical subjects in order to maintain and increase operational readiness and combat capability on a national and allied level.
