The 1st Tripartite Meeting of Cyprus, Jordan, and Greece on Defence and Security, at the level of Defence Ministers, will take place today at the Ministry of Defence.
The meeting is the result of the ongoing efforts of the leaders of the three countries to further deepen their already excellent relations in specific areas, including the field of Defence and Security. The relations between the three countries are timeless and stable as they were built through their history, but also through the effort for a better and more secure future.
The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Charalambos Petridis, with the Minister of National Defence of Greece, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, and the Chief of the Armed Forces of Jordan, General Yousef Al-Hnaity, will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the institutionalization and activation of the tripartite mechanism in matters of Defence and Security as well as ways of cooperation of the Armed Forces at the tripartite level.
At the same time, they will have the opportunity to discuss developments in the wider Middle East region and the threats that undermine security, stability, and peace.
During the visit of the Chief of the Jordanian Armed Forces, a meeting will be held with the Jordanian delegation at a bilateral level in order to assess the progress of the cooperation between the two countries so far and to suggest ways to further strengthen it.
