Major General (Ret) Ermis Christodoulou passed away

Major General (Ret) Ermis Christodoulou passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 25.

The Democratic Party (DIKO) and the “Adouloti Kyrenia” Association issued a statement on his death, expressing their condolences to his family.

Memorable Ermis Christodoulou was a fighter in the liberation fight of EOKA. As a member of the newly formed army of the Republic of Cyprus, he fought against the Turkish revolt and the Turkish invasion of 1974.

Defending democracy against the treacherous coup d’etat of 1974 he was seriously injured when he was shot by a former officer. Ermis Christodoulou was one of the men who helped rebuild the National Guard which he served until the rank of Major General.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the “Theou Sofias” in Strovolos.
