All seven passengers on a yacht, which was carried off by the wind due a mechanical problem it faced, were rescued and transported to land safely yesterday.
Specifically, according to the Police, the Port and Maritime Police mobilized yesterday around 14:25, after information that a yacht was sailing unmanned in the sea area near the port of Limassol.
For the purpose of locating the yacht, the Police boat “Astrapi 30” sailed immediately, while the Police boat “Dionysos”, which was on a sea patrol, was called to sail in the area.
The yacht was located about 100 meters from the entrance of the new Port where it was being carried off by the waves towards the breakwater and needed immediate towing.
One of the passengers of the yacht was located on the breakwater, which was picked up by the “Astrapi 30” boat and transported safely to land.
The Police boat “Dionysos” towed the yacht safely at the Limassol Marina, while all seven passengers are in good health.
