Ukraine’s state defence group, Ukroboronprom, has revealed the specifications and first official photograph of its new Neptune-D long-range cruise missile.

The Ukrainian defence news website Militarnyi reported that the system was unveiled at a defence exhibition on 1 October 2025.

This development comes amid the ongoing Russian incursion, as Ukraine continues to conduct a drone campaign inside Russia while simultaneously working to develop new domestic capabilities aimed at inflicting greater damage on strategic targets.

According to Militarnyi, Ukroboronprom stated that the new Neptune-D carries a 260 kg warhead, which is 110 kg heavier than the anti-ship version. This upgrade gives the missile greater destructive power against ground targets.

Its range has also increased dramatically. The Neptune-D is said to be able to reach up to 1,000 km, compared to just 280 km for the original Neptune anti-ship missile.

@ukroboronprom showed the main technical characteristics of the Ukrainian cruise missile «Neptune D»:

The redesigned nose section reflects changes to the warhead and guidance systems. Photographs of Neptune-D show larger control surfaces, reportedly increased in size to improve manoeuvrability given the missile’s added weight. Visible modifications distinguish it from the original version, which was intended to strike ships.

According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Neptune-D could be launched from the same system as the anti-ship version.
