Ukraine | European Union launches Military Assistance Mission

The Council of Ministers launched yesterday the Military Assistance Mission of the European Union in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).

The objective of the mission, as stated in the Council’s relevant announcement, officially established on October 17, is to strengthen the military capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces so as to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders as well as protect the civilian population. 

EUMAM Ukraine has a non-executive mandate to provide individual, collective and specialized training to up to 15,000 personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in multiple locations on the territory of EU member-states.

The Mission Commander will be the Director of the Military Planning and Conducting Capability (MPCC) Vice-Admiral Hervé Blezan.
