Turkish Foreign Minister | Pompeo’s visit to the West Bank a grave step against UN resolutions

The Turkish Foreign Ministry characterizes the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Israeli settlements of the West Bank as a grave step against UN resolutions.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that “the visit of US Secretary of State Pompeo to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank (on November 19), as part of his ongoing visit to Israel, is a very grave step against United Nations resolutions, which emphasize the illegal settlement of Israel in the Palestinian territories in accordance with international law and especially the UN Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016), of which the United States is a full member.”
“Behind this visit lies the purpose of legitimizing Israel’s illegal actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. Such irresponsibly unilateral steps will not succeed in undermining the international parameters for the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the UN resolutions as well as the rights and freedoms of the Palestinian people,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said.
According to the same announcement, “such premeditated actions are doomed to failure. We will continue to defend the legitimate rights of our Palestinian brothers under international law and to defend the just cause of Palestine.”
