On the sidelines of his visit to the SAHA defence systems exhibition in Constantinople, British Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, stated that his country could supply Eurofighter fighters, although this depends on Turkey and the Turkish Air Force.

At the same time, he referred to the Eurofighter as an excellent aircraft and noted that Turkish weapons could be certified on it.

Also, the British Defence Secretary was in Turkey for contacts with his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar, and had the opportunity to discuss a variety of issues with him, says the relevant announcement of the British Ministry of Defence.

Wallace’s visit comes a few weeks after Akar’s visit to Britain and “builds” on several years of increased cooperation between London and Ankara on defence issues.

Turkey is reportedly considering the Eurofighter as an alternative to the F-16, if the procurement of the latter does not eventually take place due to backlash in the US Congress.
