The 9th Trilateral Summit between Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt, which will involve the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, and the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, takes place today in Athens.
The tripartite agenda will include the developments in the Cyprus issue, the cooperation in the energy sector, the regional developments, and the review of the course of the tripartite cooperation thus far.
Specifically, during the Summit, the three leaders are expected to review the progress of the tripartite cooperation and ways to further strengthen it. At the same time, issues related to immigration, joint actions to address the coronavirus pandemic, and the effects of climate change will be discussed. The tripartite work will also focus on regional issues, including developments in the Cyprus issue, energy issues such as electricity interconnection and gas transmission projects, cooperation issues between the three countries’ Diaspora, and the EU-Egypt relations.

The work of the Summit will begin at 11:00, while at 13:00 the three leaders will make statements to the press. The leaders will then attend a working lunch.
The Summit will sign a tripartite Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of Electrical Interconnection and a new Memorandum of Cooperation on Diaspora issues, which will establish a common framework for action that will include programs for the further coordination of Diaspora organizations in important decision-making centers abroad.
Prior to the commencement of the Plenary Session of the Tripartite Summit, a bilateral meeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus with the President of Egypt will take place at the venue of the Summit, as well as a bilateral meeting of the Greek Prime Minister with the President of Egypt at the Maximos Palace.
After the completion of the work of the Summit at 19.00, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis, at the Maximos Palace.
The Cypriot side will also be represented by the Minister of Energy, Trade, and Industry, Natasa Pileidou, the Government Spokesman, Marios Pelekanos, the Presidency Commissioner, Fotis Fotiou, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, Kiriakos Kenevezos, the General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cornelius Cornelius, and other officials.
On the sidelines of the tripartite Summit, a round table discussion will be held, which representatives of energy and shipping companies from each country on the subject of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation will attend.
