The Ministry of National Defence presented last night, October 13, 2020, the restored House of Pavlos Melas in Kifissia, which was renovated and is in the service of the Nation and the People as a monument of modern history.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who stated that she was doubly excited about the work carried out in the historic House, which was given to the Ministry of National Defence by the Hero’s granddaughter Mrs. Natalia Ioannidis. Furthermore, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou mentioned that yesterday marked 116 years since October 13, 1904, when Pavlos Melas was killed at the age of 34.

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tassoulas, the former Prime Minister, Mr. Antonis Samaras, the Metropolitan of Kifissia – Maroussi & Oropos, Cyril as representative of the Archbishop of Greece Jerome II, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Minister of Culture, Mr. Lina Mendoni, the Deputy Minister of Tax Policy & Public Property, Mr. Apostolos Vyfos Al. Stefanis, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Antonios Oikonomou, the Member of Parliament for Drama of KIN.AL., Mrs. Chara Kefalidou and representatives of the Local Government.
