The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, held a phone call with Donald Trump.

As he writes in his post on the “X” platform, he congratulated him on his electoral victory and expressed his common commitment to continue strengthening the Cyprus-US strategic partnership.

Excellent discussion with @RealDonaldTrump. I congratulated him on his election victory & we expressed our shared commitment to continue enhancing CY-US strategic partnership. We will work together to further reinforce our relations for the benefit of our countries & the region 🇨🇾🇺🇸

Special mention was also made of the broad cooperation between the two countries and the high level they have reached recently in areas such as defence and security, investments, and the economy, as well as in terms of providing humanitarian aid and dealing with crises in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Furthermore, the common intention was expressed that within the framework of the strategic relationship and the Strategic Dialogue between Cyprus and the USA, bilateral cooperation in a number of fields should be expanded and strengthened, both for the benefit of the two countries and the region in general. 

The worrying developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region were also discussed, with President Christodoulides stressing that Cyprus remains a close and reliable partner of the US in efforts to promote peace, stability, and development in the region.
