The Indonesian government has concluded a deal to acquire a number of Poseidon vertical take-off and Landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (VTOL UAVs) from the Cyprus-based company Swarmly LTD.
The supply at issue is part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its unmanned aerial fleet and aims to increase the variety, quantity, and quality of its military defence equipment.
The first units are already delivered, while the training of the operators will be completed within a month.
According to sources, Indonesia seeks to purchase more units of the systems in question, as the Indonesian Navy is looking to acquire some systems of the H12 VTOL UAS variant. The upgraded H12 models are also well equipped for vertical take-off and precision landings on various-size naval assets, that in the past have only used helicopters.
The H6 and H10 Poseidon models in particular are already operating in the Ukrainian theater of operations with great success, supporting targeting operations for the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Regarding the newest member of the Poseidon family, the H12 Poseidon, it is an upgrade to the combat-proven H6 Poseidon MkII VTOL UAS and is designed for both land-based and maritime operations with payload capacity up to 50 kg.
According to Swarmly, the absolute advantage of the systems at issue lies in the fact that they are designed to operate in GNSS-denied environments under rough weather conditions, integrating a wide range of payload options, such as explosive agents and electro-optical equipment as well as EW packages.
Hence, there are days when only Swarmly’s UAVs are flying in Ukraine, when all the rest have GPS and/or Electronic Warfare (EW) issues.
All these have now made Swarmly the preferred choice not only in Ukraine and Indonesia, but at the front lines of half a dozen other countries.
