The ceremony of awarding the green beret to the new Cadet Reservist Officers, Special Forces and new Contracted Soldiers of the 9th Class, who successfully completed the Basic Special Forces Training, took place at the “Lt. Gen. Georgios Katsanis” Camp in Stavrovouni. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 and was attended by the Chief of the National Guard (NG), Lieutenant General Democritus Zervakis, the Hierarchy of the National Guard General Staff (GEEF) and the families of the new Special Forces personnel.   

The said awarding of the green beret constitutes the culmination of the demanding and painstaking basic training attended by those who choose to serve in the Special Forces. During the specific training, soldiers are trained in the use of the individual and other weapons with which the Special Forces Units are equipped, in items of demolition, the conduct of Special Forces operations, the provision of First Aid on the battlefield as well as in mountain warfare.  

Subsequently, the new Cadet Reservist Officers and Contracted Soldiers will be placed in Special Forces Units, where together with the remaining personnel they will continue the operational training in other Special Forces items.
