Seoul is trying to entice Pyongyang to denuclearize by offering a broad economic aid package that includes food, energy, and infrastructure modernization projects.

The proposal made by the President of South Korea comes a few days after the regime’s threats to “eliminate” the South, which it blames for the spread of the pandemic in the North.

The President of South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, stated that the bold initiative he envisions will greatly improve North Korea’s economy and the livelihood of its people gradually if the North halts the development of its nuclear program and begins an actual and meaningful process of denuclearization.

However, according to Euronews, analysts believe that Pyongyang is not going to accept such an agreement.

In early August, United Nations experts warned that North Korea was preparing to conduct its first nuclear weapon test since 2017.

Meanwhile, state television reported that Kim Jong Un exchanged messages with Vladimir Putin on strengthening their ties.

According to the same source, the Russian President said that closer ties between the countries would contribute to stability in the region.
