SEKPY | Member Companies Participate in 15 Projects Under the European Defence Fund (EDF 2024) – Involvement Also from DefencEduNet

The growing footprint of the Greek defence industry within the European Defence Fund (EDF) is once again confirmed in the 2024 call for proposals, with particularly strong participation from member companies of the Hellenic Manufacturers of Defence Materiel Association (SEKPY).

According to official data, 11 Greek companies – all members of SEKPY – along with three members of the DefencEduNet cluster, are participating in 16 research and development projects, underscoring the technological capabilities and outward-looking orientation of Greece’s defence industrial ecosystem. Notably, the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence is also involved in two of these projects, marking a significant point of reference.

In detail, the Greek participations per company are as follows:

  • IKNOWHOW S.A. – Participating in five projects: FASETT2, MYRIAD, PRECISE, HARPIA-Defence, SWARMER
  • AKMON S.A. – Three projects: BATTLEVERSE, FASETT2, BEAST
  • INTRACOM Defense S.A. (IDE) – Three projects: 5G COMPAD 2.0, AURIGA, SENTINEL
  • MARESCO Single Member Ltd. – Two projects: AQUILA, PLEIADES
  • Eight Bells Hellas PC – One project: 5G COMPAD 2.0
  • Hellenic Aviation Industry (HAI) – One project: FASETT2
  • ETME – Peppas & Associates S.A. – One project: NEREUS
  • INTEROPERABILITY SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL HELLAS (SCYTALYS) – One project: BEAST
  • SPACE HELLAS S.A. – Two projects: 5G COMPAD 2.0, CITADEL Range
  • TIRIAKIDIS S.A. – One project: PLEIADES
  • Planetek HELLAS – One project: ARGOS

Hellenic Ministry of National Defence

The Hellenic Ministry of National Defence is actively participating in two projects:

  • BATTLEVERSE
  • ORQESTRA

Its involvement reflects the strategic importance placed by the Greek government on shaping and assessing emerging technologies that will influence the future operational capabilities of the Hellenic Armed Forces.

Academic & Research Institutions – Members of DefencEduNet

Three Greek research and higher education institutions have also successfully secured participation in EDF 2024 projects as members of DefencEduNet, the first Greek defence-oriented cluster jointly established by SEKPY, academia, and industrial actors:

  • National Centre for Research & Technological Development (CERTH) – participating in three projects:

CITADEL Range, SWARMER, BATTLEVERSE

  • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – participating in one project:

METASTEALTH

  • University of Macedonia – participating in one project:

BATTLEVERSE

Their participation strengthens the link between industry and academia, fostering the development of critical skills and the generation of innovation within Greece.

Overall, the participation of Greek companies and institutions in EDF 2024 provides tangible evidence of the maturity and growing momentum of the Greek defence industry.

As the recognised institutional voice of the domestic sector, SEKPY continues to systematically support the industry’s international competitiveness, technological innovation, and integration into the European defence market—through initiatives such as dedicated Info Days and the newly established HelpDesk support platform, launched in collaboration with Ernst & Young.
