Riyadh and Washington confirmed in a statement that negotiations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces are taking place today Saturday in Saudi Arabia.

In the announcement, the United States and Saudi Arabia welcome the launch of the negotiations and call for the involvement of the warring parties so as to end the conflict.

Riyadh and Washington are mediating between the two warring sides in Sudan, according to the UN envoy, and have agreed to lead technical talks on a truce that will be respected.

Three weeks of fighting in Sudan have led to 700 dead, 5,000 injured, 335,000 displaced, and 115,000 refugees.

More than 5,500 people of 102 nationalities have been evacuated since the start of the civil war.
