The United States has spent a record amount of at least $17.9 billion on military aid to Israel since the war in Gaza began…
The United States inaugurated its first permanent military garrison in Poland yesterday, something that, according to the US ambassador in Warsaw, is a sign of NATO unity in the face of Russian aggression.
This reveals that the USA is here to stay, showing the world that the United States is committed to Poland and NATO in the face of Russian aggression, US Ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, said during an official ceremony.
The garrison, the eighth in Europe, will be tasked with coordinating support for US forces deployed in Poland and across NATO’s eastern flank. It was created based on the decision of the US President in 2022 and will serve as the headquarters of the Fifth Corps of the US Army.
At least 10,000 US troops are now stationed in Poland, a country crossed by most of the military equipment destined for Ukraine.
The Polish Minister of Defence, Mariusz Blaszczak, expressed his appreciation on Poland’s behalf for the permanent presence of US troops in his country, while Europe is in a situation where Russia has invaded Ukraine and is trying to rebuild its empire.
The command of the Fifth Corps of the US Army is already operational, so it is from Poland that the US ground forces in the eastern flank of NATO are commanded, the Polish Minister also said, emphasizing that the garrison is important for the security of his country, but also for the security of the entire eastern flank of NATO.
