The graduation ceremony of 158 new class 9 Professional Soldiers (SYOPs) was held today in “Sergeant Georgios Lazaros” camp in Larnaka, in the presence of the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant Democritus Zervakis. All male and female SYOPs, having successfully completed the Basic Training at KEN Larnaca, will attend the Fighter’s Combat School and will complete their operational training before their oath ceremony and their placement in Units.

In his speech, the Chief welcomed the young SYOPs to the military family and referred to the great honor and responsibility they undertook by putting themselves in the service of the Homeland. He said that the illegal occupation of our country, the settlement and the presence of Turkish troops on our territory as well as the constant disputes compose a complex of challenges that require operational readiness, constant vigilance, determination, courage, high morale and spirit from everyone.

In conclusion, he called on them to devote their strength so as to meet the requirements of the training as well as the high expectations of both the National Guard and the people of Cyprus.
