OHB Hellas, which has been active for almost 5 years in the space sector in Greece, having multiple collaborations with members of the domestic ecosystem, decided to take an important step in its path in space, joining forces with the Hellenic Association of Space Industry (HASI) by signing a relevant Memorandum.
According to the relevant announcement, with this move, it looks forward to the further development of its activities in strategic sectors for the country, the continuation of the creation of highly skilled jobs in Greece as well as the consolidation of its position as one of the leading forces in the European space industry.
It should be noted that, in addition to its role as a system integrator for the implementation of space missions and the support of Greek programs, OHB Hellas also acts as a Competence Center for the OHB SE Group regarding the creation and implementation of artificial intelligence applications in orbiting satellite systems.
The HASI Board of Directors welcomes the decision of OHB Hellas to become a member and to join forces in the effort to develop the national space industry ecosystem. The space industry is an important pillar of innovation development, significantly strengthening the country’s economy and security.
HASI was founded on September 22, 2008 after a concerted effort by most of the domestic industry, active in the field of space technology and applications.
Today, HASI includes forty-eight (48) regular members, while in 2019 the turnover of the companies exceeded €200 million.
All of the members are high-tech Greek Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which employ a total of over 2,000 workers, the majority of whom are personnel with specialized scientific training, mainly in the field of space technologies and applications.
