MBDA | One-Way Effector Designed to Saturate Enemy’s Air Defence
Defence Redefined
18/06/2025

At the 2025 Paris Air Show, MBDA is unveiling its One-Way Effector.

This long-range solution is being developed through an innovative production model, in partnership with a drone manufacturer and key players from the industrial sector, notably the automotive industry.

The One-Way Effector reflects a deliberate trade-off between mass and performance at a reduced cost, designed to address the challenges faced by armed forces operating in high-intensity combat scenarios.

It represents a new attritable capability informed by operational feedback from armed forces, particularly lessons drawn from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Launched from the ground in salvoes, the One-Way Effector is intended to deplete enemy resources by applying continuous pressure on hostile air defence systems. Its warhead is sufficiently powerful to compel adversary systems to engage it, thereby expending valuable interceptor munitions.

In doing so, the effector forces even the most advanced air defences to reveal their positions, making them easier to detect and neutralise in coordination with other long-range strike assets.

This latest development brings together MBDA’s expertise in cruise missile technology and remotely controlled munitions. Through innovative partnerships, the system benefits from cutting-edge drone technologies and the production capacity of the civilian industrial base. It is expressly designed for high-volume, scalable manufacturing.

An unprecedented collaboration with the automotive industry that will enable mass production on demand, with a projected output of up to 1,000 units per month.

With the introduction of the One-Way Effector, MBDA is further expanding its portfolio of saturation weapon solutions and reaffirming its ability to adapt to evolving operational needs—empowering armed forces to operate effectively in today’s shifting strategic landscape.
