A case of murder, with victims Niki Sieftali, 44 years old, and Christakis Christodoulou, 56 years old, is being investigated by the Police in Lakatamia.

According to a police statement, the 44-year-old and the 56-year-old were found unconscious, with injuries on their bodies, in the apartment of the 56-year-old, in Lakatamia, around 9.30 last night. The bodies were found by a relative of the 56-year-old.

Members of the Police and medical examiners rushed to the scene, where they confirmed the deaths of the 44-year-old and the 56-year-old.

The injuries inflicted on the bodies of the victims are believed to have been caused by a gunshot, while a shotgun was found at the scene, which remains blocked for further investigation.

Police Spokesman Christos Andreou, in statements to Cyprus News Agency (CNA), said that the scene was instantly blocked, adding that various items were collected and sent for scientific examination.

He noted that the legal autopsy is expected on Wednesday and added that the results will help determine the exact cause of the victims’ deaths.

Asked if the possibility of murder and suicide was being considered, Mr Andreou said that “it is certainly a serious possibility that we are investigating, while with the facts we are aware of so far it seems that the involvement of a third party is excluded.”

The CID in Nicosia continues the investigation.
