τρίτου υποβρυχίου S43 τύπου 209/1400, από την Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems στο Κίελο, ανακοίνωσε ο Αιγυπτιακός Στρατός την Πέμπτη 09/04. Σύμφωνα με τον εκπρόσωπο Τύπου, του Αιγυπτιακού Στρατού, Tamer Al-Refai, αυτό ήταν το τρίτο από τα τέσσερα υποβρύχια τύπου 209/1400 που παρέλαβε το Κάιρο από το Βερολίνο στο πλαίσιο συμφωνίας το 2014, για την ανάπτυξη των δυνατοτήτων του Αιγυπτιακού Ναυτικού. O Tamer Al-Refai, είπε επίσης ότι το υποβρύχιο με την ονομασία "S43" παραδόθηκε στο Ναυτικό της Αιγύπτου, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems στο Κίελο μετά την ολοκλήρωση της ταυτόχρονης τεχνικής και εξειδικευμένης εκπαίδευσης του πληρώματος στην Αίγυπτο και τη Γερμανία σε χρόνο ρεκόρ. Τα συμβατικά υποβρύχια Type 209 ειναι μήκους περίπου 62 μέτρων, εκτοπίσματος περίπου 1600 τόνων σε κατάδυση και έχουν κύτος πίεσης διαμέτρου 6,2 μέτρων. Επανδρώνονται από πλήρωμα 30 ατόμων. Η Αίγυπτος προχώρησε στην παραγγελία αρχικά 2 υποβρυχίων τύπου 209/1400 το 2011 και το 2014, παράγγειλε επιπλέον 2. Το πρώτο υποβρύχιο "S41" παραδόθηκε στο Ναυτικό της Αραβικής Δημοκρατίας της Αιγύπτου τον Δεκέμβριο του 2016 ενώ το δεύτερο "S42" τον Αύγουστο του 2017. Το πρόγραμμα θα ολοκληρωθεί με την παράδοση του τέταρτου υποβρυχίου, "S44" το 2021.
