HNDGS | Signing of “Greece – Egypt Military Cooperation Program” for 2023

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the “Greece – Egypt Military Cooperation Program” for 2023 was signed by the Director of the Department of Strategy – Politics – Defence Planning and Capabilities of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), Brigadier Nikolaos Cholevas, and the Deputy Director of the Planning and Operations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Brigadier Mohamed Mohamed Tawfik Moawad.

According to the relevant announcement of the HNDGS, the aforementioned Military Cooperation Program includes 32 activities that will take place in both countries, 17 in Greece and 15 in Egypt, and concern, among others:

  • Participation in joint exercises and in those of each Branch of the Armed Forces.
  • Joint training courses in Crisis Management, Electronic Warfare as well as Search and Rescue.
  • Joint training of Special Forces – Special Operations Forces.
  • Personnel exchange and visits to schools and multinational schools.
  • Staff meetings and conversations on matters of mutual interest.

With the signing of the Program, the constantly upgraded Military Cooperation between the 2 countries is confirmed, the ties of their Armed Forces are further strengthened and the interoperability between them expands, contributing to the strengthening of the role played by Greece and Egypt as pillars of stability and security in the wider region of the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North Africa.
