From Saturday 7 to Friday 13 August 2021, the Arab Republic of Egypt provided 2 CH Helicopters 47D CHINOOK, as part of the international aid for extinguishing the recent wildfires in Greece. In recognition of the excellent cooperation and valuable assistance of Egypt, a simple appreciation ceremony was held at the premises of the 112th Combat Wing in Elefsina, on the day of the departure of the Egyptian mission.

According to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), the Egyptian mission took part in the firefighting operations on the front of Northern Evia, carrying out joint missions with the CHINOOK of the Hellenic Army Aviation, executing a large number of direct water drops and decisively assisting in the fight against the fire.
Finally, the GEETHA stated in its announcement that the assistance of the Egyptian Armed Forces to the recent Greek challenge due to the climate crisis comes to be added as proof of the strong ties that have been developed between the two countries.
