Year 2021 will be a milestone year for Greece, as it marks the 200th anniversary of the national polygenesis of the Greek Revolution.

The “Greece 2021” Committee, in order to create the video clip of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution, chose the song “As arxisoun oi xoroi” (Let the dances begin) by Dionysis Savvopoulos.

A happy and optimistic song, which has been loved by millions of Greeks and presents the historical course of Greece through the allegory of the celebration of a group of modern Greeks.

Through its verses, the timeless course of Hellenism from Antiquity to the present day is presented with particular sensitivity.

The President of the Committee “Greece 2021”, Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki, stated:

“We chose this song because it describes in a unique way our common journey. In these 200 years, our “assembly” has unfolded, grown. ‘Our bond has thickened.’ Many times we fell but got up again and ‘our companies continued to write history.’ In 2021, we look forward. We combine our ‘old and light orbits’ with a bright and optimistic future. Because the journey of the Greeks continues. So let the dances last!”

The video clip was shot at the Panathinaiko Stadium and at the Kalatrava’s Agora at the Olympic Stadium.
