GEEF | Preventive Measures to Protect Against Coronavirus Transmission

As part of the emergency precautionary measures to address the risk of coronavirus transmission (and always in accordance with the decrees of the Ministry of Health), the General Staff of the National Guard (GEEF) announces the following with effect as of August 1st, 2020:

1. Compulsory use of a face mask by the National Guards’ personnel when indoors and in particular:

a. At the military hospital and clinics, by medical staff, patients and visitors.

b. At the entrance gates of military premises / services, by military personnel performing reception duties, as well as by all visitors entering these premises and throughout their stay.

c. By the personnel who serve in military clubs, in the house of the National Guard, in other restaurants (kiosks, canteens, etc.), as well as in the public service areas.

d. In the areas of personnel reception and service of foreign countries’ military flights.

e. In the waiting areas as well as inside transportation means, by drivers, operators and passengers.

f. In the churches.

h. In the elevators.

2. Limit the capacity of public transport to 50%, while the passengers must use a face mask.

3. The measures concerning the Recruitment and the Training of the new conscripts continue to be valid.

4. In addition, for the province of Limassol, the following are defined:

a. Limit the maximum number of people in social gatherings to 10.

b. Limit the maximum number of people in restaurants to 75 people, indoors and 150 people outdoors.

c. Presence of people in churches on the basis of square meters, depending on the protocol without exceeding 75 people in any case.

5. In the case of foreign armed forces personnel performing official visits to Cyprus, the directions of the Ministry of Health will apply.

6. In addition, the individual responsibility of the staff is reminded:

a. To comply with the instructions given by the Ministry of Health and the Directorate of Health, regarding the measures of social distancing and individual protection from the coronavirus.

b. To be informed about the development of the pandemic and any new instructions, as they are published on the website of the Ministry of Health www.pio.gov.cy/coronavirus.
