Free fall in memory of Costas Meligonis – Photos

This week, free fall and static line jumps were performed in the Megaron Fall Zone and in the sea area of Nea Peramos. The jumps were performed after the accident on the night of 3 to 4 September 2020 in which Special Forces Professional (EPOP) Sergeant Costas Meligonis was fatally injured during the execution of an operational free fall in the same area.

In the activity, carried out with a C-130 aircraft and a CH 47D helicopter, participated the entire staff of the Unit to which the deceased commando belonged, the Commander and Officers of the Joint Special Operations Command, as well as the EPOP Sergeant N. M., brother of the deceased, who serves in the Special Operations Forces.

Prior to the execution of the jumps, a trisagion was held in memory of the deceased in the presence of the personnel who participated in the activity and the 2nd Army Aviation Group.

The execution of the jump confirms the high operational readiness and the unique spirit of the Special Operations Units.
