Fincantieri and Leonardo signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding with national suppliers in Elefsina.
In the context of working with the local industrial ecosystem and strengthening cooperation between Italy and Greece, Fincantieri and Leonardo have signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with potential new Greek suppliers, laying the groundwork for defining potential long-term business relationships.
The event took place yesterday in Elefsina, where the Onex Elefsis Shipyards are based. The partnerships in question are key components of Fincantieri’s strategy if the Group, as prime contractor, is awarded the Hellenic Navy’s corvette program.
The following potential Greek suppliers are as follows:
- SUNLIGHT GROUP ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS S.A
- GENERAL COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL S.A.
- FARAD S.A. HEAT EXCHANGERS
- ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ENGINEERING S.A.
- G. LIGEROS O.E (PSYCTOTHERM)
- SSA S.A.
- ELPHON
- TECROSS S.A.

Owing to yesterday’s signing of the MoUs, the involvement of the Greek industry will be continuous, as it will not be limited to the corvette program. The group of companies from Italy formed, with Fincantieri, Leonardo – as providers for the Combat Management System and the main sensors, systems and guns – and MBDA Italia with Elettronica, constitutes a coherent core of support and development of a shipyard partner with advanced know-how, according to Leonardo’s announcement.
It is recalled that last December Fincantieri signed an official agreement with ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group for the creation of a corvette manufacturing line and their lifespan support facilities at the Elefsina Shipyards.

The agreement was an important step in strengthening domestic defence production. The expertise that will be acquired through the ONEX-Fincantieri collaboration, which includes the entire Italian industrial ecosystem, will be an important cornerstone for the development of competitive products that will meet the defence requirements of various markets, giving even greater impetus to the regeneration of the Elefsina Shipyards.
