From September 1-17, 2021, a small-scale special operations exercise will be held in Cyprus, under the name “PTOLEMAIOS / 2021”, in which both the Special Forces of the Republic of Cyprus and Egypt will participate.

The exercise will take place alongside the Multinational Exercise “BRIGHT STAR / 2021”, which will be held in Egypt, with the participation of personnel from the National Guard.

The purpose of the exercise is the joint training of personnel in special operations objectives, with special emphasis on urban warfare, the execution of operational shots, the provision of first aid on the battlefield, and the cooperation between the design and management teams of the participating forces.

This exercise is part of the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Program between the two countries and contributes significantly to increasing the operational capabilities of the Special Forces of the National Guard, while it enhances interoperability and demonstrates in practice the excellent relationship between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
