According to our information, the Ministry of Defence has made the evaluations of Officers of the Cyprus Army and their ratification is expected from the Council of Ministers, which is meeting today.
According to the Regulations on the Promotion of Officers, evaluations for senior officers are conducted during March each year and then the evaluations for all other ranks of Officers are conducted no later than the end of April.
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the evaluations did not took place in March, but after a report from the Legal Service, the Minister of Defence proceeded with the evaluations in May. The validation of the evaluations will lead among other things, to the retirement of those who may be judged to have successfully completed their service. The evaluations and retirements every year are followed by the promotions for the filling of the vacancies at all levels.
