Erdogan | “We will give Greece and Greek-Cypriots the answer they deserve – Varosia belongs to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”

We will give Greece and the Greek-Cypriots the answer they deserve, said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, accusing Greece and Cyprus of not fulfilling their promises in the talks in the EU and NATO. Regarding Varosia, the Turkish President addressed the Turkish-Cypriots by saying that “these lands belong to you”.
Speaking to his party’s parliamentary group, the Turkish president said that they have shown in the Eastern Mediterranean that they will continue to support the rights of their country and the Turkish-Cypriots and will not give the opportunity for the realization of any plan. “Our ship Yavuz has returned to port for maintenance. The safety of this ship is ensured by our fleet. And Oruc Reis has returned to its mission in the Mediterranean after maintenance work. And Barbaros continues its work. We will continue to give Greece and the Greek-Cypriots the answer they deserve since they did not fulfill their promises in the negotiations being held in the EU and NATO,” said the Turkish President.
Regarding the drilling rig “Kanuni” the Turkish president stated that it is heading to the Black Sea, and he also revealed that on Saturday he himself will go to the Black Sea where Fatih will carry out drilling works. He will then announce the amount of stocks found there.
The Turkish President said that they are closely following the developments in Cyprus. “The opening of the enclosed city of Varosia is a turning point for Cyprus. There are those who are bothered. The West, Greece and southern Cyprus are bothered. There are those who are bothered even here. Those really disappoint us. The enclosed city of Varosia belongs to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” he said.
The Turkish president also said that “we were told in Burgenstock ‘that a referendum should be held and then what was needed would be done’. A referendum was held, the ‘north’ voted 65% ‘yes’ and the south voted ‘no’. Although they said no, they were included in Europe. They had to give a lot of financial support to northern Cyprus, but they didn’t. And they still have not given it. They do not give it. And while all this is happening now in relation to Varosia, they are coming out with statements like ‘this territory is ours’. I also address my Turkish brothers in northern Cyprus: These lands belong to you. You must claim these lands and the political will that protects those lands. I believe that the developments in Cyprus will be very different. I wish this beautiful development to be beneficial for the Turkish-Cypriots.”
The Turkish President also said that they have repaired the water pipeline from Turkey and started supplying water to the Turkish-Cypriots again, while he stated that in a short time they built a hospital in occupied Cyprus like the one they built at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul with 1008 rooms. “Upon the completion of this hospital, the TRNC will have an alternative hospital,” he said.
