Five years after imposing restrictions on arms exports to Turkey, Norway has decided to accept Ankara’s arms applications.
An explosion occurred yesterday morning at a factory in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, which belongs to one of Diehl Defence’s subsidiary companies.
The explosion seriously injured two employees, and strong firefighting forces rushed to put out the resulting fire.
The police authorities of the region announced that they have launched an investigation to determine the causes of the explosion; however, from the first evidence, it does not appear to be a criminal act or sabotage, but a simple work accident, as reported by the German BILD.
The facility where the explosion took place belongs to the company DynITEC, one of the subsidiaries of the German defense giant Diehl Defense, in which the explosive components that are placed on the company’s missiles are produced.
It is recalled that at the beginning of May, there was an explosion at other facilities of Diehl Defense in Berlin, for which the federal authorities have launched an investigation, as they suspect sabotage by Russia.
Two other explosions have occurred in recent months at factories where munitions being shipped to Ukraine are made, one at a General Dynamics facility in the US and one at a Bae Systems facility in Wales, UK.
The incidents of sabotage do not stop there, with Germany remaining at the center of attention after a military camp and a NATO AWACS base were put on alert in recent weeks following reports of acts of sabotage.
