The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended yesterday, Saturday, August 28, 2021, in Zarakes, Evia, the commemorative events in honour of Squadron Leader Nikolaos Vassiliou, captain of training aircraft, who passed away while on duty.
The Minister attended the memorial service officiated by the Metropolitan of Karystia and Skyros Mr. Seraphim. Then, the Deputy Minister made the unveiling of the bust, together with the brother of the heroic pilot, Squadron Leader Christos Vassiliou, and laid a wreath, with the pilot’s father, Mr. Pantelis Vassiliou.
The commemorative events, organised by the Municipality of Kymi – Aliveri, were attended by relatives of the fallen pilot, the Member of Parliament for Evia (SW), Mr. Athanasios Zempilis, the Commander of Aviation Training, Air Vice-Marshal Konstantinos Ekproos, on behalf of the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General staff, the Mayor of Kymi – Aliveri, Mr. Athanasios Bourandas, the President of the Community of Zarakon, Mr. Christos Tranos, and officials of the Armed Forces.
