The Department of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment made an announcement yesterday regarding the fire that broke out near the community of Kellia.
The announcement follows:
“The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today Friday, August 12, 2022, at 4:43 p.m. a fire broke out at the Gerakomoutis shooting range near the community of Kellia.
A firefighting vehicle with a 3-member crew from the Forestry Department along with another 3 vehicles from the Cyprus Fire Service with a 7-member crew worked to extinguish the fire.
The fire burned an area of one hectare with reeds and other dry vegetation and was brought under full control at 17:20.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.”
