Defence Committee discusses the 2021 defence shield budget

The defence shield budget for 2021 submitted by the Ministry of Defence was discussed at today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence, in the presence of the Minister of Defence, Charalambos Petridis.  

During the discussion, as the President of the Committee, Marinos Sizopoulos, stated on CNA, the Minister of Defence, the Chief of the National Guard and the General Director of the Ministry of Defence answered questions of the members of the Committee.

Mr. Sizopoulos also said that at the next meeting of the Defence Committee next week, the parties will express their position on the defence shield budget.

He also stated that following this, the defence shield budget will be passed to the Plenary Session, as an annex of the total state budget for 2021, in order for the parties to position themselves.

According to the President of the Commission, all or part of the defence shield is usually cross-checked before it is released.
