The escalation of the conflicts in Sudan and the subsequent actions taken by Greece to rescue citizens, as well as the possible horizontal escalation of the crisis which will undoubtedly affect stability throughout the region, highlight the need to expand Greece’s geostrategic role.

In the context of the international defence exhibition in Athens, DEFEA 2023, the Chief of the Armed Forces, General Konstantinos Floros, met with his counterpart, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Central African Republic, General Zéphirin Mamadou.

As mentioned by the DEFEA in its announcement, the Chief of HNDGS, after welcoming General Zéphirin Mamadou to “DEFEA 2023”, noted that the Exhibition covers all operational sectors and is an ideal opportunity for interaction between companies active in the field of defence and security from all over the world.

In addition, he pointed out that the existing operational environment creates opportunities for the formation of collaborative solutions and synergies at the industrial level.

He also referred to the unstable security environment in the wider region and made special mention of the prevailing situation of instability in Sudan. He emphasized the value of friendly relations between the two countries, despite their geographical distance and expressed his intention to consider proposals for cooperation between the Armed Forces, as this would be to their advantage.

General Zéphirin Mamadou thanked the HNDGS Chief for the excellent hospitality and invited him to the Central African Republic.
