Aiming to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the liaison officers of other countries and organizations active in Cyprus, the Cyprus Police organized the 4th Regional Conference of Liaison Officers in Nicosia.
According to the Police announcement, liaison officers and representatives of embassies and international organizations, appointed or accredited in Cyprus, are participating in the conference.
The purpose of the conference is to get to know liaison officers, diplomatic attachés and the Police, thus helping to further strengthen the relations and cooperation between them. As part of the conference, various serious, global issues such as immigration, terrorism, human trafficking and cybercrime are presented and discussed.
Addressing the conference, the Chief of Police, Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, expressed his belief that communication and cooperation between countries and law enforcement authorities can defeat crime. He even noted that to this end, the 4th Regional Conference of Liaison Officers “can play a positive role in the further development of the network of liaison officers in the geographical area of Cyprus.”
In the framework of the 4th Regional Conference of Liaison Officers, a meeting was held today, Wednesday, at the Police Headquarters, between the Chief of Police, Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, and the Japan Liaison Officer, based in Greece, Mr. Yukihiro Takahashi. At the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Forensic Science Division, Mr. Haris Filipidis, issues concerning the further strengthening of cooperation between the two parties were discussed.
