The CASSINI Hackathon competition is also coming to Cyprus for two days in March (24-26). The competition mainly focuses on cyber security and defence.
Participants are invited to use space data to develop defence and security solutions for Europe.
According to the Cyprus Space Exploration Organization CSEO, upon completion of the competition on Sunday, prizes will be awarded to the winning teams along with certificates of participation. It is noted that two weeks prior to the competition, events called “Big Ideas Campaign-BIC” will be held for all participants.
CASSINI Hackathon & Mentoring is the first action of the new EU initiative ‘CASSINI’. This initiative of the European Commission concerns the support of innovative entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small- and medium-sized enterprises in the space industry for 2021-2027.
The event is organized in Cyprus by the NGO C.I.P Citizens In Power and is under the auspices of CSEO. CASSINI Hackathons aim to tackle global challenges with European space technologies. Each event is a hybrid event taking place in ten different locations across Europe simultaneously.
The aim is to bring together young entrepreneurs, technologists, and researchers from all over Europe to develop innovative applications and learn about European space programs. The three winners of each hackathon competition receive access to CASSINI Mentoring, a customized mentoring and training program.
The event is open to everyone and will offer comprehensive digital resources to enable participants to use space data and develop an innovative business plan.
In Cyprus, the awards will include €1,000 and additional business support. Registration for the 5th CASSINI Hackathon is open at the following link: https://www.cassini.eu/hackathons/cyprus (external link).
The event will take place at the Information and Training Center for Employment and Entrepreneurship of the Municipality of Nicosia.
