The training of the Cypriot Underwater Demolitions Teams in urban warfare was completed today with a capability demonstration.

In particular, the demonstration, which took place from October 29 to November 6 at the Asgata Shooting Range, was a dynamic mixture of live fire and explosions together with tactical exercises on both an individual and a pair level and the deployment of snipers. The main scenario focused on urban warfare operations during which a building was raided and cleared from the enemy using live fire and explosives to blow up the doors.

The training activity was attended by the Chief of Staff of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Apostolos Pervolarakis, the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Charalambous Charalambos and a delegation of Navy Officers.

The United Kingdom Marines (Juliet Company / 42 Commando, Royal Marines) also took part in the initial training. The Royal Marines are part of the British Navy “Littoral Response Group (Experimental) – LRG (X)”, being deployed this period in the Eastern Mediterranean.
