Reuters news agency, citing anonymous sources familiar with the situation, said the Lebanese group Hezbollah carried out an operation on Monday against the Israeli army in the disputed Shebaa Farms area.
So far there has been no direct statement from Hezbollah on the incident. A resident of the town of Khiam, about 5 kilometers (2 miles) from Lebanon’s southern border, told Al Jazeera that she heard about two dozen explosions and witnessed large columns of smoke rising near Mount Hermon.
