The Military Sports Association of Reservists is organising, from 21 to 23 November 2025, the Annual Panhellenic Competition – Volunteer Reservist Exercise “Athens Patrol 2025,” a readiness evaluation contest for Reservists that has been held every year since 2014 in the mountainous region of Attica.
The “Athens Patrol 2025” competition is designed to assess the current readiness and military knowledge of today’s Volunteer Reservists in Greece.
At the same time, the event aims to enhance the combat capability of Greek Reservists so that, if ever called to active duty by the Nation, they will be able to respond immediately, within minimal time, to the challenges of the modern battlefield.
The competition features a 24-hour and a 12-hour (entry-level) course, with routes and training stations where competing six-person teams (patrols) will be called upon to face various challenges incorporated into a complete combat scenario.
These include, for example: communications, navigation, ambush, urban warfare, close-quarters battle, artillery fire call-for, mountain fighting, obstacle crossing, area defence, loaded march, issuance of final orders, mission briefing/debriefing, and many more.
Performance will be evaluated by experienced staff and collaborators of the Military Sports Association of Reservists, covering both tactical combat tasks and Civil Protection-related activities. On Sunday 23 November 2025, immediately after the conclusion of the exercise, a ceremony will be held to award the top-performing teams.
This year’s “Athens Patrol 2025” is dedicated to the memory of the brave fighters of Cyprus and to the 70th anniversary of the start of the great national-liberation struggle waged by the National Organisation of Cypriot Fighters (EOKA), which led to the liberation of the island and inscribed glorious pages in the military history of the Greek Nation.
Those interested in participating may send an email to: [email protected] and [email protected]. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
