In a statement, the ministry said that unmanned aerial vehicles with ammunition were aimed at the Command of the Unmanned Aerial Systems in Batman province and the Command of the 23rd Infantry Division of the Armed Forces in the province of Sirnak. According to the Turkish ministry, both attacks were intercepted.

“No damage or casualties were caused thanks to the attention of our unit personnel and the measures taken,” the statement said. According to Turkish media, local sources in Batman and Sirnak said they heard several explosions, which may have been caused by the Turkish Air Force.
Earlier this week, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked an air base in Diyarbakir province. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), dubbed by Turkey as a terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
On May 19, two unidentified drones attacked an air base in Diyarbakir province, near the border with Syria.
On Twitter, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu claimed the attack had failed. According to him, the drones were shot down.

Local sources in Diyarbakir reported that several explosions were heard near the base. It is not yet clear whether the explosions were the result of a successful attack on the base or an interception by the Turkish Air Force.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The main suspect is the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has carried out similar attacks in the past.
The UAV attack on Diyarbakir Air Base may have started from Syria, Iraq or even from Turkish territory. The attack is an example of the serious threats facing Turkey today as a result of its growing military involvement in neighboring countries.
The Kurdish rebel group has carried out similar attacks against Turkey in the past using civil drones which they modified. The two new attacks could be a response by the PKK to Turkish military operations in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
