A new batch of 20 unmanned combat ground vehicles (UCGV) Uran-9 will be transferred to the Russian Armed Forces soon.
This was stated to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, during a visit to a factory where robotic systems for various purposes are developed and produced.
In the OJSC 766 (now Kalashnikov) Department of Production and Technological Completion to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, another batch of five Uran-9 UCCVs has been produced and is ready for delivery to the Armed Forces.
Each Uran-9 battle complex consists of one command post, mounted on the basis of a Kamaz vehicle, and four combat vehicles.

The announcement of the Ministry of Defence states that in January, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were equipped with five Uran-9 battle complexes, and two more robots separately.
Uran-9 can be used for battlefield reconnaissance, fire support and destruction of enemy vehicles.
It weighs 12 tons and is equipped with a 30 mm 2A72 cannon, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, Ataka anti-tank guided missiles and Shmel-M reactive flamethrowers. In addition, it can be equipped with Igla or Strela short-range surface-to-air missiles (MANPADS) and has a state-of-the-art electro-optical equipment package.
The vehicle in question was first used in Syria, but it has not impressed with its performance, according to various reports. However, the Russian Army adopted the Uran-9 in January 2019, and according to Kalashnikov General Manager Vladimir Dmitriev, data from the trials in Syria have been taken into account for the completion of the vehicle.
